Today feels like a shoe day, don’t you think? Here’s a ruby slipper shot that you won’t soon forget from Reflections Weddings at Vintage Wedding Showcase. If you missed Jasmine’s Wizard of Oz tabletop, check it out here.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in your shoe. If you have ever wondered where the Penny in Your Shoe tradition came from, check it out.

Thanks to Megan, for hand-crafting each name tag worn at the event.

Wow, it’s been an amazing week! I’m part of a little, powerhouse collective called A Spoonful of Vintage and on Sunday we hosted Vintage Wedding Showcase. I hope you had a chance to stop by for some vintage inspiration. I had my “Play Station” set up vintage-style and and may I say, there are some crazy, fun brides out there. It was a blast!
The event would not have been such a success without our team of incredible volunteers and supporters. A few of them popped into my “Play Station” at the event and I want to give them a big THANK YOU!!!

If you didn’t have a chance to stop by Vintage Wedding Showcase you’re in luck. Today you can feast your eyes on the winning tabletop from Vintage Decor Challenge. Six of Calgary’s top wedding planners selected a film or show category with a strong vintage feel and interpreted that into a table top. The guests of Vintage Showcase selected the winner and they chose “Mad Men” by Sharon Auld of Naturally Chic. Sharon’s table epitomized the 1960s with shades of tangerine and olive, complimented by wood tones. Don and Betty give their stamp of approval Sharon. Well done! Sharon is a talented wedding planner based out of Canmore and specializing in eco-chic, outdoor and adventure weddings.

Tomorrow morning, head over to the ‘A Spoonful of Vintage’ blog for a peek at the amazing contenders – The Great Gatsby, The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Casablanca and Downton Abbey.

I’m so proud of our little collective and grateful for our amazing sponsors (and a host of fabulous volunteers). More to come on this inaugural event but for now, see the inside scoop here.

That remarkable piece of sculpture (which is also delicious I’m sure), is from my friends at Cakeworks. Florals by the talented Sarah Mayerson.

I have to say that this weekend is off to a great start. Our French Flea Market-inspired Bridal Shower is being featured on Style Me Pretty Living this morning. What a colorful pick-me-up from the wintery weather we’ve been experiencing here in Calgary. See their full post here.

If you follow my blog, you know that I have, well, a “thing” for shoes. Imagine my excitement when Nine West offered to be our sponsor of shoe glitz & glamour at Vintage Wedding Showcase. Whether you’re a vintage bride or have a more modern sensibility, we all speak the common language of “shoes”.

Yesterday a box arrived in the mail. What fun to open it and find these delightfully-wrapped chocolate bars from Whimsy Wraps inside. A friend of mine (thank you Anne) put me onto them and I’m so glad she did. They are a Canadian company and offer custom candy wrappers for standard-sized chocolate bars. They specialize in:

It was a pleasure to work with Victor of Artists Within and Formans Fashion Group, on a shoot for Luxe by Calgary Bride. This is just a snippet from the day with more to come soon.

How handsome is Victor? Not only was he sweet to work with, he was up for anything. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes tidbit. We needed to add a hint of sophistication to Victor’s look, so I pulled off my own specs for a shot (shown above). In case you’re interested, they’re from Dita.
On a trip to Victoria last year, I discovered Violette, a lovely jewellery boutique. Inside I was introduced to pieces by Leah Alexandra. I loved how they could be combined into pretty, stackable bracelets. Wouldn’t they be perfect for gifts for your bridesmaids? I see that they’re also available at Rubaiyat here in Calgary.
