Vintage "Play Station" and a thank you

Wow, it’s been an amazing week! I’m part of a little, powerhouse collective called A Spoonful of Vintage and on Sunday we hosted Vintage Wedding Showcase. I hope you had a chance to stop by for some vintage inspiration. I had my “Play Station” set up vintage-style and and may I say, there are some crazy, fun brides out there. It was a blast!

The event would not have been such a success without our team of incredible volunteers and supporters. A few of them popped into my “Play Station” at the event and I want to give them a big THANK YOU!!!

Say hello to our handsome “Grooms”, Chuck and Jonathan, who escorted our models down the white carpet dressed in tuxes from Cameo & Cufflinks. Well done gents!

Yesterday was truly an outstanding day in Calgary! Did you catch Vintage Wedding Showcase? I’m so proud of our little collective and grateful for our amazing sponsors (and a host of fabulous volunteers). More to come on this inaugural event but for now, see the inside scoop here.

That remarkable piece of sculpture (which is also delicious I’m sure), is from my friends at Cakeworks. Florals by the talented Sarah Mayerson.

Yesterday really was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. I spent the afternoon with two of the most lovely and thoughtful people, and we played in the snow. It was cold, it was picturesque, we were wet (did I mention it was cold?), but we made the prettiest images. Hugs to Laura-Lynn & Ryan.

Last year I worked with Katie & Chris on a stop-motion film in the place of their engagement session. I love the way it turned out and it was a huge hit with their friends and family. I’m now offering this as an option for couples this year. I will help you plan a one-of-a-kind film to the last detail. This includes hair & make-up, wardrobe assistance, prop scouting and location fees. Contact the studio for more details!

Wedding Fair is usually a bit of a blur but I ducked out of my booth for a few minutes to take some photographs of the brand new Cakeworks booth. It was truly outstanding. Read more about it over on A Spoonful of Vintage.

I just can’t say enough good things about ONEWEST Weddings. The talented Mary Swaffield has recently joined the team and I’m so looking forward to what they do together. Here’s a few photographs from their design bar at Wedding Fair.

Their site is under construction so be sure to check out their Facebook page until it’s up and running again.

Well it’s that time again. For the last six years, I have been gifting one special couple each year with free wedding photography. It’s something that I can do to give back and show my gratitude to all of the couples I have had the privilege of photographing. If I were planning a wedding myself, wedding photography would be my number one priority and I know that quality wedding photographers are a big investment. Many couples don’t have the luxury of choosing a photographer they love and that’s what ‘Love You Back’ is all about.

I am tingly with excitement about Wedding Fair on Sunday. Wedding fair is like a rite of passage for brides in Calgary. You gather your Mom, your besties, a Starbucks and take in Calgary’s wedding best. The fair takes place at the BMO Centre on Sunday from 9:30 to 5:30. Be sure to stop by booth #816 and say hello!
