I’m so pleased with the Love You Back project entries that are rolling in this year. If you’re getting married in Alberta in 2012, you’re still eligible as the deadline is midnight on February 29th. To help you get inspired, check out Janelle & Oscar’s entry. Theirs was actually the first entry to arrive and was sitting in my mailbox when I arrived home from Wedding Fair. Good luck to Janelle & Oscar!

Hi Tara,

Here is a little info about us so that you understand our inspiration board. Oscar and I meet in Bolivia while I was volunteering with a Canadian NGO- (he is Bolivian and I’m an alberta girl) hence the llama and the canadian maple syrup photos showing something each of our countries are renowned for. We have our wedding venue booked at a country golf club in Duchess, Ab where I worked in the summers to pay for university and our theme will be vintage country rose with lots of pearls and pink using my mom’s country rose tea set as table center pieces. Also God’s is a very important part of our lives so we included a cross in the wedding ceremony.

I hope we get picked ;)

Last week I had the privilege of spending the afternoon with a great group of students at The Arts Edge from Rocky Mountain College.

They weren’t professional photographers and they didn’t have fancy equipment, so I spent the afternoon giving them simple ideas for improving their photos. I posted a little bit about it on Friday, but today I thought I’d post some of their photos. I am so proud of them. Here they are, snapping away…

You make me smile - a Love You Back entry

I received a sweet & authentic entry to the Love You Back project last night, that included link to a song. Maybe it’s the temperature or the snow falling outside my window, but I just had to post it this morning. For full effect, play the song while you read through Sarah & Ian’s entry. Just try not to smile.

Remember, the deadline for entries is Feb 29th!!!

Good Day Tara, fellow judges of the love you back project.

We wanted to say thank you first for this wonderful opportunity that you have created with this project.

My fiancé and I met thru eHarmony, when we finally decided after a couple of months of questions and emails to go on our first date neither of us thought then it would lead us to where we are today. The simple line Ian said to me was Keep in touch, I thought that was it botched this date with this amazing guy soo I called him on the way home to set up another date which lead to where we are today. The most memorable moment of our first date was the birthday card he gave me and inside was coupons for my favorite thing 7eleven slurpees. I opened that card on our second date which was also my birthday. We both believe in the importance of family and friends and have chosen to get married during one of our favourite holidays for it symbolizes the importance of everything we are grateful for this holiday is Thanksgiving October 6,2012. Our Inspiration board shows well us in a picture form. It’s hard to describe with out using the words on our board so I will try and keep it short and sweet.

Foodies- we love food and different foods with Ian being a chef it’s made eating well an amazing adventure.

Puddle jumpers- because as much as we love being able to trek around discovering cool places to eat we enjoy the outdoors and quite honest playing in the mud.

We strive to be each others best friend and supporter as we both strive for our dreams.

Ian is pursuing a career change that will take him to his former high school to teach our tomorrows leaders how to cook healthy and exciting foods. In his pursuit and our move to Pincher Creek, I am also going back to school to be an educational assistant because I want to help a young students discover a passion for learning.

Down to earth-We don’t need crazy glamour in our lives as we are down to earth but together we make each other grow.

Our wedding is going to be taking place in my home town church, we are going to try and transform the sanctuary of the church into a park with twinkly lights and a gazebo kind of like the picture on our inspiration board, the fellowship hall which will carry the park like feel to the downstairs of the church. We are keeping it elegant and classy with our closest family and friends there to share with us our day, and then in August of 2013 we are going to have the park party with ladder golf, quading, horse shoes, and to be able to share the rest of what we love with all our friends and family. If we could sum up Ian and me into a song it would be Smile by Uncle Kracker.

Again thank you for this amazing opportunity and we look forward to hearing from you.

“Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail”...basically just another afternoon shooting in Calgary yesterday. Oh ya, did I mention that I was teaching 12 students? I was asked to do a photography workshop for “The Arts Edge” at Rocky Mountain College, teaching them basic ways to improve their photographs with basic equipment. What fun! My former bride Sarah, did a splendid job of modeling for us. Thank you Sarah! Next week, I’m hoping to post some favourites captured by my students. I loved pouring through their images last night but for now, here are a few of mine from the day.

I love it when spontaneous moments like this happen. A passerby thought Sarah needed just a pop of yellow.

Happy Valentines Day everyone! We’ve been waiting expectantly to share this wedding with you. When Anne and I put our heads together and came up with the Love You Back Project last year, we couldn’t have hoped for a better couple to win than Sarah and Bryce. Check out the entry video that shot them to the front of the pack.

Sarah and Bryce tied the knot on a perfect Alberta day at Priddis Greens, with a reception in rustic reds at the Greenwood Inn. Red was certainly the color of the day. As you will see, Bryce’s red Barracuda shares his heart with Sarah. We asked Sarah to give us her thoughts on the day and she said…”the day is over in a blink and all I know is that it was a big, happy, blur!” Sarah & Bryce, it was a delight!

The highlight of the whole experience for me was the friend I made in Anne. It’s been lovely getting to know Anne, Dave and girls through the challenges that 2011 brought. Anne is spending 2012 focusing on other projects but I’m excited to be running the Love You Back Project again this year. The deadline for entries is February 29th so if you’re getting married in Alberta in 2012, there’s still time.

Without further ado, Sarah & Bryce…

Anne and I flipped a coin to decide which of us would photograph the guys or gals getting ready. Let’s just say that for me, it was “raining men”.

It was great to spend time with my friends at Fire Exit Theatre yesterday and to photograph The Big Picture.

“The Big Picture presents the story of the Bible in under two hours. Orthodox, but creative, the story travels from creation to nation to incarnation to revelation. Devastatingly simple and breathtakingly imaginative”.

There are some seriously talented wedding vendors in our city. I was asked to photograph some displays at Wedding Fair, including the booth for my friends at Great Events Group. Not only are they a delight to work with, but they can create deliciousness like this at your wedding…

I’m in a very ” Valentiney” mood this morning after I came across this adorable video on one of my favourite blogs Snippet & Ink. I love that the photographers themselves are also a real couple (The Sartorialist & Garance Doré). Hmmmm!! Did you know that you can enter your own LOVE-ly photo on the Tiffany site here.
