Merry Christmas from Tara Whittaker Photography

This is my Christmas tree this year. I love it. I can’t take full credit for the concept though. I saw it here first.

If you follow my blog, you know that I offer a photo booth for wedding receptions which I call Tara’s “Play Station”. I brought it out for a recent Christmas party but wanted to add something new. I decided on mustaches-on-a-stick and began searching the web for instructions on how to make them. I looked no further than Martha Stewart herself. As you can see, they were a huge hit. Contact the studio if you have any questions about adding a photo booth to your wedding.

Wednesday night I attended opening night of the latest production at Fire Exit Theatre, 2000 Candles. As the company photographer, I’m usually snapping photos so it was such a pleasure to sit and watch. I was blown away by it. To quote the Director’s notes in the program, “it’s an evocative deconstruction of the mess we’ve made of Christmas”. There are 3 shows remaining – Friday night, Saturday at 2:00 pm and Saturday night at the Engineered Air Theatre at the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts. See the Fire Exit website for tickets and information. It’s hilarious, it’s thought provoking…I highly recommend it.
Read the rest of this entryToday is the birthday one of my dearest friends, Linda.

Three of us – Linda, Randi and I, have been friends since our days at University of Calgary. In spite of the miles between us, Linda remains one of my most favourite people. This is a photo of the three of us in Huntington Beach last summer courtesy of the crazy-talented Tara Whitney.

I had a shoot booked with this family during our extremely cold snap so outdoor photos were out of the question. Carolyn came up with the brilliant idea to do a pajama party shoot complete with Christmas Carols on the stereo. It’s ideas like this that make them one of my favourite families to shoot. See you all next year.
